Education:

Bachelor of Science in Education

Years teaching:

20 years at Atlantis Academy

Area of specialty:

My expertise is in reading, although I serve Atlantis Academy in many capacities: Middle Team (head), Reading Department (head), Middle Team Reading Teacher and coordinator of after school program.

Why did you go into teaching?

I wanted to make a difference, and I have a natural gift for teaching.

Why did you choose special education?

It chose me. I’ve always been able to reach those with learning differences.

What keeps you motivated?

My motivation is seeing children change from apathetic, unenthusiastic students to learners who refuse to miss a day of school. I enjoy watching children gain self-confidence and a newfound love of learning. The gratitude of both parents and students is also a great motivator. I love when students thank me for a great class as they leave the room.
